Julian why didn't you buy a 1MT to 2MT sleeve. Much cheaper than a new mandrel.

Many thanks for the thorough answer Julcle.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

Hi John,  I do have a sleeve with a Jacobs chuck on the end of it but you know what it's like when you are at the show and it's the end of the day you haven't spent anything but you need to home with the stuff to do things etc. I will be thinking a bit harder this year though as it's coming up to a year now without a pay day !  --  Julian

Graham,
If you are Oxford (ish) then one of the guys in the Didcot club has probably made enough pens to re-stock W.H.Smugs.
I'm sure he would be happy to show you his method(s), let me know and I will have a word with him.
