Thought I ought to post something
« on: February 09, 2014, 09:38:54 PM »
Not posted any of my work for a while so thought I would post this.
Purple-heart bowl, pierced and then textured with small indentations and decorated with gold (not real gold).
About 6" diameter and 3" or so high. Taking on board comments from other posts I have invested in a photo cube so this is the first picture using it, I think now I need a new camera and a new tripod and a newflash and a new..........
C&C welcome.
Regards
John BHT

Blimey John, you got time on your hands LOL? This looks rather good not to mention the patience you must have.

Good to see more of your work, John...especially as it's so different to what you've shown us in the past. The investment in the photo-cube was worthwhile and the photo's fine, particularly in the way that it shows the light through the back of the bowl.

Kept this one under the old Bowler Hat John.

Like the form and a great bit of pierced and textured work.

John,

you've got something there. Pierced work is not uncommon but the addition of the gold spots really lifts this work.

I'll bet your looking forward to it oxidizing back to it's purple colour, the effect will be a magnitude better. If you've not sold it by then, an updtae photo would be nice to see.

Hi all,
many thanks for your kind comments. It did take a while to do but was none the less enjoyable. I have to admit that I don't think the idea of the gold dots was mine, I am sure I have seen some one else's work with similar decoration but for the life of me I can't remember where. ??? Whether who ever it was also textured or not I do not know but that is where I got the idea from anyway.
The better half reckons it would be better with silver dots and I must say I am inclined to agree with her using Purple heart, but the gold works too.
Ive got a few more to show over the next few weeks but my primary objective at the moment is to play with the light cube(which I am very impressed with)
Regards

Hi John
Nice example of texturing and piercing.Haven't seen another one with gold dots and I think they're very effective.
With Purple Heart, both gold and silver work really well.
Looking forward to seeing the next one,
Regards,
Roderick
