Ikebana sort of thing No. 2
« on: May 25, 2013, 02:25:31 PM »
This is a little hollow form/pot,  6" tall and 4" max diameter made from a piece of scrap blackthorn. It split and has been filled in a few places then buffed to a high gloss. The base is some scrap that has been cleaned and then buffed. I have the three stones but will replace them with slightly larger ones, just managed to get some washed river pebbles. Need a better photo but this will have to do for the moment. Critique etc welcome

Thank you dr4g0nfly,,
you live next door to someone who hasn't tended there hedges for ten years and their sheep keep getting out so they have to cut them back and mend the fences buried in them. Seriously the best people to go to for wood like that are farmers, smallholders etc.

Pete, you've captured the essence of Ikebana nicely here, like what you've done.

Thank you David. Japanese art and craft is based on simplicity and really hard to achieve I find but I'll keep trying. Such a contrast to the intricacy of much of the wood turning we see in the west.
