Rings

First time turning rings. After looking at the metal ringed Xmas tree I have been using at craft shows I decided I could do a little better. Hopefully the photos uploads this time!

I really like that - and an excellent advertisement for your skills at a craft show.

Dave how do you turn a large hollow ring?

I turned a large diameter(100mm) piece of walnut to the round and marked out the width of the rings(12mm) with a 5mm space between turned out with a 5mm parting gouge to a depth of 15mm. The outside of the rings was polished. I then worked from the end cutting each ring out with a 3mm parting gouge.

Each ring was then finished off in jam chuck. The rings were laid out and drilled to take a steel pin. All superglued together.
