Ripples in the Sea
« on: October 21, 2019, 03:40:25 PM »
Vase from rippled sycamore, with textile dyes and carved seaweed. About 3" diameter and 8" tall.
At the time I was playing around with this type of shape, and made about a dozen or so in slightly different shapes and variations on height and diameter. Some of them went straight into the firewood bin, and some were completed and sold, some are still hanging around the workshop for some finishing touches. This one is basically sold, to a friend who has bought a few pieces over time. Before he would pay for it, he wanted me to make the seaweed longer, so I added about an inch to the top of some. Now he wants them longer still!! I suppose he who pays the piper calls the tune!

Any and all comments welcome.

Lovely form from interesting timber. I don't go for colour but I like it on this one. It enhances rather than detracts from the timber.
