Mystery Lathe
« on: November 04, 2019, 09:04:37 PM »
I've been contacted by one of the tree surgeons who supplies me with timber, and he is helping a friend of his to sell a lathe. So far, all I've had is a couple of photos, but there's no maker's name on the pictures. Anyone recognise this?

Looks like an old Poolewood? I jsed to have one that looked a lot like this. Good strong lathes.

Hi Les,

Looks like the Poolewood 28-40 'Superlathe'.  Chris Stott made some woodturning dvds where he uses this lathe.

If it is any help when I sold mine I got £200 for it by the way. Depends on whether it has the variable speed or not. It is the lever type by the look of it.

I agree, it's a Poolewood 28-40 with mechanical variable speed. Probably worth around £300-£400.

Thanks everyone for the unanimous decision. I have passed the info on to the owner...he may ask for offers if anyone is interested, in which case I'd post something in the relevant part of the forum.
