something a bit different
« on: September 14, 2019, 01:55:34 PM »
First post for a while due to life getting in the way. the sphere is from ash, the base is oak and the finials African Blackwood. this is a compilation piece as a friend of mine used the Paul Howard hollowing jig to make the sphere and i took over from there. the sphere was pierced with a dremel, then pyro`d and finished with Rust patina paint. the base was textured and then finished with ebonising laquer.
The sphere is 100mm diameter and the base about 300mmx75mm. c&c welcome.

Roger I like this but I do think the drop finial should have echoed the other two. Well done though.

Thanks gents for the comments. Much appreciated and points taken on board. This won the annual competition at one of my clubs last night, but as it was a joint venture I turned the trophy down. In hindsight, I should not have entered it but it was the concept which encouraged me to do so. Call me old fashioned but that's how I am. Anyway thanks

But......overall the impact is great
