indian laurel bowl.

I got this timber as part of a lump sum of 16 items for £50 .this bowl is from Indian laurel and is 6x2 in size. sanded to 320 grit and then sand sealer and yorkshir grit. then finished with Hampshire sheen. all comments welcome.

Rather too dark a wood for my taste but it looks well made and a good finish

It';s great to see these 'simple' bowls being made where the wood is the main attraction. As I have said before making something that looks simple like this is often much harder to get right than a decorated bowl where you can hide any defects more easily.

Not only is is a beautiful shape, the finish is excellent. I know the colour is natural but it really sets it off.
