Andy's Bowl
« on: July 24, 2019, 05:29:38 PM »
I was recently given a very big Burr by a Mate I have never met and who asked nothing in return
I have made him a nice Brown Oak Bowl 10"x 4"with a Pewter rim.I hope he likes it.

I'm a sucker for a nice piece of brown oak, and this is just as I like it....good even colour throughout. The matt finish on the rim works well for me, too.

Can I ask what surface you use on your reversing pad?

Like the timber, but not so sure about the pewter rim, though I am intrigued about how it is attached?

Just personal taste, to me it detracts from a stunning piece of timber, now if there were a filled grove in the top rim so you had a pewter circle that may excite me more.

Lovely piece. The simple uncomplicated form and the pewter -which contrasts beautifully - highlight the character of the wood very well.

A very pleasing simple shape which the pewter enhances and takes it up a level
