Natural edge Ash vase
« on: July 14, 2019, 09:43:36 PM »
This is another of my vases, a natural edged Ash the outside of which has been lightly scorched with a gas torch 33x24cm. All comment welcome.

I like the colour contrast between the inside and outside, which I assume is due to the scorching, and the form. An interesting piece. Looks great :)

Thanks Mike. Yes the scorching is only on the outside. I also quite like the contrast but the colour inside is all due to being lit from above. I think I should make a point of only using daylight bulbs in the future.

Very nice it would look good with some dried flowers.

I have just looked at the stats on this 144 views and 3 people have bothered to comment not very encouraging is it.

Is it that people cant be bothered or what.

I think it was this sort of form (normally in Yew or Hawthorn) that got me into woodturning. I've not seen it done in a long time since then, sio thanks for the memory jog.

And it looks good as well.
