Sycamore Hollow form
« on: July 03, 2019, 06:13:33 PM »

Maybe about time I showed some of my work. This is a piece that has just gone to a local gallery. It’s Sycamore with a pyrographed pattern 24x15cm. I do like Sycamore!

I like that. it's another new twist on a classic form. One minor issue...I'd have liked the outer edge of the pyro-work to have formed a clean line rather than being a bit random.

Certainly like the idea, perhaps the pyro could be a bit neater? Sycamore is ideal for this sort of work but I suspect you were burning a bit hot?

I have to agree with the above.

It is an excellent piece of work let down by the Pyro work, but I hope you revisit the pyro decoration, as it should not be too hard to sharpen up the outlines and make it something special.

Agreed. I was trying to create a path in crazy paving, hence the random edge but as you say it doesn’t look right. Will correct it if I can.

What sort of pyro pen are you using? It looks as though you have done the pyro with lots of dots, you will be hard put to get a good clean burn like that. You need a scalpel type tip to get clean lines really. Be a shame to (as my grandmother used to put it) spoil the ship for an 'aporth of tar. Lovely pot, well turned so well worth sorting out.

Other than what has already been mentioned I like the form and the pyrography idea.

Thanks for all your comments.
It would however appear that with some justification, I need more practice with the pyro kit, so when I get the opportunity to make the changes I will let you see the results.
