More experimenting

I have done a few off centred bowls recently and they have sold well at shows as have the metal leafed ones so decided to combine the two. This is beech and about 8" diameter. I left a rim and leafed that so the idea is that it looks like a bowl within a bowl. Prefer the leaf on a darker wood but this was a prototype and reasonably pleased with the effect.

I really like the metal leaf effect.

I've used flakes and foil (imitation gold leaf) but what is this leaf, it has a chequer board or fish scale effect.

It is basically metal leaf that has been heat treated in the rolling process. There are a myriad different types. I got a sample book of them and working my way through them though some are not really my cup of tea. I get it from here

Having tried applying leaf onto a small, concave surface, I can really appreciate just how tricky it is to get good, clean lines and you certainly achieved that.

Thank you Les and Drek. If you cut the leaf into triangles you can get it into the concave surface easier and without wasting too much. Need to make sure that the size is pretty much touch dry as well.
