Bimble Box Burr

Hi All

Been a while sine I posted anything on here, just got out of the habit.

A bit of Aussy burr Well two bits really the bowl is bimble box and the base is something else not sure what  ;)

 nice, I like the idea of the natural burr. How have you attached the base? Is it a fixed base or does the top lift off. Quite fance the idea of two bowls, one being the base and the second the top.

The base is fixed with some epoxy.

You could do it like a box with a tight fit but the shape of the base would have to change so you clear the spiney bits.

Nice Ed, whats the finish? looks like  it's not a shiny  finish, my  Missus keeps saying i only do shiny and should " dull down a bit "

Hi Ed,

I like the idea of elevating the burr, it's a little like a small tazza. Bet it would look great with grapes spilling over the edge.

Knowing some Aussie turners, they often talk about the silica content of some of their woods taking the edge off their tools very quickly. How did you find working the burr and did you have many issues with it.
