« on: May 02, 2019, 04:45:31 PM »
Hi
I know there are plenty of Places to buy bowl blanks but I’m after some hard wood to turn some small pots - so post shaped pieces of hardwood - anyone know the best way to go about locating ?

You will be looking at spindle type blanks, depending on the size of pot you wish to make. The boxes I make like these below from 2 1/2" to 3 1/2"square spindle blanks.
There are a number of places one being Home of wood, another is Stile and Bates. There are others a search on the interweb will find them

Depends what wood you want!

in or near Bristol

NEXT to Bendry Brothers is an oak sawmill, a rummage through the off cuts is always worth while if you are near by.

Robbins Timber http://www.robbins.co.uk/ cherry, beach tulip all sorts sometimes useful off cut bundles

Many more within 10 miles or so of Bristol
TT, AKA Pete, but that name is taken :-)
