Chestnut Products Woodturning Weekender aka 25th Birthday Party
« on: January 25, 2019, 02:08:00 PM »
Hi all

Somehow Chestnut Products is 25 years old! To be honest it happened a couple of years ago and we missed it, but a late party is better than no party, right?

To celebrate we're holding our Woodturning Weekender - a seminar style event in Spalding in Lincolnshire on 3-4 August 2019. We'll be featuring four great turners over two days, plus lots of other displays and demos around the hall for when the main stage isn't in use.
On the Saturday evening we're having a very informal barbecue (properly catered, not me in an apron!) with a few surprises going on as well to make sure it's an evening to remember.

The turners on the main stage are Emma Cook, Stewart Furini, Phil Irons and Gary Lowe.

You can find more information on the dedicated website www.woodturningweekender.co.uk and of course tickets can be ordered from there or by phone if you prefer.

Tickets start at £20 for one day and £30 for two days (until 1 April 2019)

We've always been grateful to the AWGB and it's members for their support over the years, the party is for you and is our way of saying thank you. We hope you'll come along and enjoy yourselves, we certainly will!

Terry

PS If you have any questions I'm very happy to answer them, feel free to post them in here or email me.

Thanks - we've put quite a bit of work into this and will be doing more in the coming months.

We chose Spalding deliberately as there's quite a bit to do in the area if you don't want to attend the Weekender, starting with the Outlet Shopping Centre on the same site, plus some lovely gardens etc. Fingers crossed it should be good weather in August.
And of course, if you're travelling with a partner they can come to just the barbecue on Saturday evening if they'd like.

Another reason we chose Spalding is that there is a Travelodge on site too, about a three minute walk from the hall. Whilst not 5*, it does provide affordable and dependable accommodation. Other options are available locally too.

Hi Allen

Great that you're booking, thank you.

The evening meal is in addition, it's only £12.50 and is being subsidised by us. We're encouraging people to come to the meal, the more the merrier we say, but we realise that not everyone will be able to make it so we've made it a separate, add-on part. No-one wants to pay for something they can't use.

What we are also saying is that if you come for the weekend and decide not to come on the evening meal, you will probably kick yourself when you hear about it on the Sunday!

And your order has just come through! Thank you very much!

Terry

Hi Allen

That's great, where did you get in?

Nearer the time (although it's never too early to start) we're hoping to encourage people to use our Facebook page for the event to work together and maybe do some car-sharing, don't know if that might be of interest?

Hi Allen

Excellent! Looking forward to seeing you there.

Hmmm... I wonder, should we organise some sort of (very) informal get-together on the Friday evening, especially (but by no mean exclusively) for those travelling alone? Help break the ice for the next day. What do you think?

It's a great idea, I'll certainly look at some options nearer the time. As you say, better than being 'home alone' - I've done my share of staying in hotels and B&B's on my own, it's not always fun.

Hiya dr4g)nfly

The answer to your predicament is to arrange a visit to the Baytree Garden Centre at Spalding ,
it is, at least for me, just the most amazing place. It is difficult to describe the place. and I'm
not sure that the website does it justice, but the owner, Reinhardt, just ploughs a lot of the
profits back into the place just to make it look good as opposed to just concentrating on
getting money out of your pocket. The restaurant is top-class, prices are superb, and this
recommendation is from someone who is not a gardener, but just enjoys mooching
around the place....it's almost Disney-ish !!! I'm sure your wife will like having a look round
as much as you would , it's quite easy to spend the whole day there !!!!!

Their website is https://baytree-gardencentre.com/about.htm

So, if she does'nt fancy Baytree...... Springfields Shopping Outlets is close by......just give
her your credit card and hope for the best !!!! My BossLady has tried to get me
to Springfields but it's not really a bloke's cup of tea, if you know what I mean,
whereas Baytree is magic !!!

Springfields website is https://springfieldsoutlet.co.uk

Anyway. I hope this helps......good luck, regards - Jim

Hi Jim

Thanks for making that suggestion, I'll try and have a look myself.

I'll also put that information on our website, thanks!

Cheers

Terry
