Unusual way to turn a Sphere

This guy (assume it's a guy) turns a sphere a very strange way and boy does he have some strange toys for holding the work.

Actually looks rather effective. Not seen the first pair of drives before but made some like the second lot out of wood fpr a job I had once.

There's a link to the chap's site where he sells those drives; http://drechsler-wissen.de/werkzeug-angebote/
Interesting, but neither cheap nor particularly versatile.
The Paul Howard rig is more versatile and probably less error prone, at a bit more cash.

Yes, quite an interesting method, thank you for the link. The first set of drives must need accurate placement of the blank so not sure of that.I have made a wooden drive which sits in the chuck and have an egg cup chuck thingy which sits in a multi star revolving centre.
In the seminar at Stone I saw Max Brosi turn spheres freely using geometry and a good eye. I have tried it since and found it OK as it is not a size specific system. I also saw Rod Page using a home made jig to turn spheres.

If I had a better lathe, I would be able to show my ineptitude more effectively.

John,
I watched Max as well, fascinating mathematics he used but so simple once you've seen it.
