« on: October 24, 2016, 11:44:09 PM »
a few weeks ago I was on about a pedestal bowl I had to make for a friend. well this is the bowl I finished up with. it has a natural yew bowl and a painted stem. it is turned on end grain for the bowl of it and stands about 10x9 in size. all comments welcome.

The quality of the turning is fine, good clean finish and a thin, even edge on the yew. The thing that doesn't work for me is the mix of the classic 'urn' shape in the pedestal against the very organic shape of the bowl.

I think its very nice ,
my only comment is that personally I would have like to see some light decoration on the pedestal as it looks slightly understated ( Just my thoughts others will vary )

I like the marriage of the two dissimilar parts.

I think that the bulb part of the stem could have been a little narrower to make it look finer, and possibly the foot a little wider to give a little more stability.

But the shapes and turning stand up well as they are.
