Hi John, If you can get hold of Keith Rowley's book Woodturning, A Foundation Course, he made a bar stool, at 25.5" high, top 11.5" x 1.5" finished size.
The legs are from 2" sq stock and cut 25.5" length (finished size), any large dia. are max 1.3/4", foot 1.1/8", as is the top shoulder which is 1.1/8" from the end with pin dia. of 7/8" (pin is 1.1/8 long). there is reference to 9" & 10.5" from end of foot along, this is the location for the for upper/lower stretchers. (cut 5 legs, as I found a split in one which I'd turned, to find another to match could be problem)
Angles for seat/leg 7 degrees, so would be 83 deg. splay from 90 deg. upright, outward, legs for stretchers are at 5 deg. so 85 deg. on the top side..
For the stretchers 1.1/4" sq stock, upper strether 8.7/8" long, lower 9.1/8" long, finished at 1.1/8" max dia. tapper to give a parallel of 3/4" from each end to have a 5/8" pin.
There are details to on the jig and setup for drilling the holes, other than by sight or luck.
Sometime since I'd made one, so hope to have you going in the right direction and the book, as it's good to work from a plan and details, all the best.
David
