Try this site it's quite good. The language is foreign but you can understand the videos. Play the first video to the end then other video options appear. All worth watching.

Well there are some ingenious methods shown there, some a little bit safer than others (a little!).

Think I'll stick to the Skew,

I to think its the skew for me. last week I had to make over a metre of 6mm dowel (in several peices). It takes no time at all
