AWGB Change of Officers
« on: March 01, 2016, 01:32:27 PM »
Andy Coates has stepped down as a Trustee and Chairman of the AWGB.  Our Articles of Association state that the Chairman and other officers are elected by the Trustees and I’m very pleased to let you know that the Trustees have voted for me to take over as Chairman, Sam Webber (formerly Secretary) to become Vice Chairman and Mike Glover (formerly General Trustee) to become Secretary.  These changes take immediate effect.

The AWGB owes Andy a debt of gratitude for over 10 years of dedicated service including the last three as Chairman and it has been a pleasure for me to work with him over the last 7 years since I joined the committee.

On behalf of myself, my fellow Trustees and committee members past and present, and the membership in general I would like to thank Andy for his hard work over this time.  We shall miss him but we wish him well in his well earned rest from matters AWGB.

Dave Atkinson
Chairman, AWGB

I'll second that, Pete.....I'm more than a little impressed by the fact that you all find time to keep this site and forum as great and as popular as it is.....despite having your own agendas to fulfill.

And I will 'third' it. many thanks to Andy and his successors.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

Andy thank you for all the hard work you have done and also thank you for the support you gave to me  when I was on the committee. You were a safe pair of hands and I feel that you have handed the baton on to a safe pair of hands in Dave Atkinson, congratulations Dave. Congratulations also to Sam and Mike in their new posts of vice chairman and secretary.

I'll add my thanks also and wish the newly elected officials all the best. We are in safe hands. Without the efforts of all these committee members the association would not be what it is. Thanks to you all. Enjoy your 'retirement' Andy. Malcolm.

I endorse all that has been said. Congratulations on your appointment Dave.
It was via Andy I became aware of the AWGB.
From what I can see he has put a huge effort along with the other officers, into this charity inc. this forum and I personally thank him for his hard work and hope he can enjoy whatever the future holds. The AWGB has helped the growth in woodturning and in doing so reversed the loss of skill from our craft.

....a good point, Bryan. I recall being fascinated by Andy's knobs and finials made from road-kill, but have rather missed it in recent years. it would be good to see it again!

A very big thank you to Andy for the ten years of hard work that he has put into his post within the AWGB, and the sterling work in promoting turning in the UK he has achieved. All the best with your well earned rest Andy.

Congratulations also to Dave for being voted in as Chairman and for clarifying with George that you will still sort him out.  :)

All the best
