Burr Elm
« on: May 27, 2013, 01:12:59 PM »
Had been keeping my eye on this dead tree for the past couple of years and eventually it was cut down last month. Rough turned two of the Burrs immediately and managed to finish them yesterday. Here are the results. The hollow form is 20cm dia x 13cm high and the bowl is 17cm dia.

Hi Alex, the wait paid off, and you've made two really nice forms, the HF is indeed excellent, and to sand the inside is not ideal with that edge, brilliant finish.

Thank you for sharing.

I agree with David, the HF is great, lovely warm colour to it and I like to see it left natural inside.
Thanks...Les
Education is important, but wood turning is importanter.

Congratulations on your patience. Very nice forms you've made already and I am looking forward to a few more.

Looking into the tree photo, there are burrs in the branches, I hope you got a few of them for Apples & Pears etc., they will look stunning as well.

I took it all. Had to make a few runs, but got there.
