« on: March 16, 2011, 05:51:48 PM »

Hi All
Plain oak bowl -, sorry no burrs this time.
size 340 diam by 35 depth
outer rim left plain and hand carved and inner rim textured.
It has been stained with a mixture of yellow/orange/purple and then oiled with a wax to complete.
The staining was done as described in video/demo by Andy Coates

Hi Ken, Very nice details with this one, busy, active piece, like the ideas and finish you've used.

Nothing plain about this, nice detailed work and subtle use of colour.

Cheers aArtin.

Hi Ken,
I like it but think that all the varied details are overkill. I like to keep things a little more simple(boring?)
The colours are good though.

John

Hi Dave and John
Thanks for your comments.
I agree about keeping it simple. Its been on the kitchen table for the past week or so and had ample time to look at it and it does look a busy item.
The carving on the rim was my first ever attempt and was pleased with the effect but the texturing maybe a bit over the top.
I like John's comment of keep it simple - some times we just get carried away with the ideas and try to get them all on one piece.
Regards
Ken
