General Discussion / Re: VL100 Lathe
« Last post by Paul Hannaby on March 02, 2024, 09:19:49 PM »
The lathe is approx 10" swing so the motor power is about right for what it is.
Looking at what you get for £700 these days, yes I think it's worth it especially if you are getting chucks etc. as part of the package.
My club has one of these and my only complaint is that the cam lock levers on the tailstock and banjo are too short. They need an extended handle to give more leverage to lock tighter.

General Discussion / VL100 Lathe
« Last post by SMackay on March 02, 2024, 08:03:53 PM »
Hi All,

I have the opportunity to buy a VL100 lathe with EVS, does anyone have any opinions on whether this lathe is worth it?

Price would be around £700 and comes with chuck and lots of centres.

My concern is that it will be too low power?

Thanks

For Sale / Wanted / Axminster AT2030 3hp lathe SOLD
« Last post by Bodger on March 01, 2024, 12:14:58 PM »
I have decided that I would like a different lathe so am selling my Axminster AT2030 that has the same specification as the rebranded Axminster AP508WL.  This is a robust, powerful and heavy lathe but it divides into a number of parts for transportation. I use it on a daily/weekly basis and it is in excellent condition. It is a great lathe but for a number of reasons I would like a change. I am in Kent. If you have any questions please send me a message.
Now sold

Sorry for the late reply, been having problems with logging on. I'm afraid that the Multistar Chuck ended up in the bin. I had no response for months so binned it.
Alan.

There is a basic constitution in the AWGB club startup pack - ask your regional rep for a copy.

The AWGB Articles of Association (AWGB Website, resources, documents and forms) might be a good place to start.  You won't need all the content but the structure might be suitable.

I've been involved in a few similar things over the years.  Right now I'm doing the articles for our village rooms/community building, its all working fine but it was written in 1920 and refers to things that no longer exist (committee has one representative of the men's club ....what men's club?) so its just a tidy up and modernisation.  Sometimes though a review is to fix a particular problem - who has the authority to decide, spend etc.  So be clear about the objectives of your review.

Post pandemic I've always put in a clause that the committee/trustees or whatever can meet remotely provided all members are given notice.  One quite big organsation I was part of had a rule that all decsisons must be taken by Trustees meeting in person ..... constitutionally awkward because to change the rule we had to meet in person to say that we didn't have to meet in person.  We just met remotely anyway and if challenged would have pointed at the Covid regulations, but better to have the capability written in.
