Title: Oak burr hollow (very) form!

This vase/form stands 8" high and is approximately 4" wide at it's widest point... or, rather, what would be it's widest point if it was actually round. As I'm sure you'll all appreciate this was a bit of a challenge sanding-wise but I'm delighted to say I still have all digits intact after the turning :)

Big yes from me on this one. Brings a whole new meaning to 'natural edge' LOL.

I like this one, shows off the markings really well. I do quite a few of this type of form, and find that they are popular with customers "who like their wood". Sanding for me is never an issue, I power sand with the piece held stationery. Maybe it takes a bit longer but the quality is more easily controlled.

Cheers John. I did power sand the outside but the inside was impossible... even stationary. Must get a long-necked sander!!

Wow, I really like that, but not sure I'd attempt it myself.
Definitely one to keep in mind for the future though.

I like this a lot , not a practical piece more ornamental , are the cracks filled ?

Thanks Woodspinner. Yep - the cracks are filled with coffee grounds... used... obviously... I had to drink lots to keep me awake during the sanding!

Thanks Duncan. Yep, it was a bit of a health and safety challenge! All fingers still attached though... thankfully.

I have an electric drill with a 90 angled head and use the 50mm hook and eye foam backed pads. If the diameter is too small for that set up I use a regular drill with an extended chuck and the Kirjes Bowl Sander. (Woodturning Magazine issue 333 page 95)  ;)

It's amazing how all that air can hold a little piece of wood together! Pleased to see you can still add up to 10.

But on a serious note it is a lovely piece of work and very well done.
